Costs
We follow the ancient
tradition of Dana : an economy based on generosity.
Everything you receive or have the use of while you are at Satipanya
is already paid for by the generosity of others. The teacher is
there and able to teach because of the generosity of the lay community
who have continued to support him.
After your stay, you can determine how much you wish to support
others in their practice. We ask you to take on some responsibility
for the financial welfare of Satipanya and give what your means
will allow you.
We cannot maintain and continue to teach at Satipanya without your
individual support. Dana requires an act of renunciation - but the
spiritual rewards are great!
Dana:
- Supporting another person’s spiritual aspiration is a
universal religious practice.
- Compassion is the desire to help someone be free of suffering.
- Selfless giving unburdens the heart of attachment and possessiveness.
- Generosity brings joy to the heart.
- To give of time and wealth without conditions is itself a path
to liberation.
- Satipanya converts a gift of your money from you into the gift
of the dhamma to all who ask for it.
- The Buddha said that the gift of dhamma excels all other gifts.
