Travel

Public Transport:

Train and Bus to Satipanya:

Train to Shrewsbury (often quicker via Wolverhampton unless direct).
For bus go down the road opposite the train station, a ten minute walk.
The bus station is ahead of you on the left.

Bus 553 weekdays Stand P.
Bus 553 Sundays Stand G.

Request stop at Apple Tree Junction.
From the bus stop it is about a 7 minute walk.

Coach travel is also available to Shrewsbury.

From Shrewsbury take the A488 Bishops Castle road via Pontesbury and Minsterley and continue on this road up the Hope Valley for about 16 miles towards White Grit.

DO NOT take the turning right signposted White Grit, but proceed for approximately one mile and then turn right at the Apple Tree Junction onto Fishpool Lane, signposted ‘Hyssington and Old Churchstoke’. Sixteen miles in all from the Shrewsbury turn off.

Satipanya is the first property on the left hand side of the lane about one quarter of a mile on.

From South Wales, join the A488 and drive through Bishop’s Castle.
At Apple Tree Junction, signposted ‘Hyssington and Old Churchstoke’, turn onto Fishpool Lane.

Coming from abroad:

The closest airport is Birmingham International Airport, from where you can get a train to Wolverhampton – see above.

Seafarers from Ireland can take the ferry to Holyhead. There is a direct train from Holyhead to Shrewsbury.

If you come by Eurostar/boat from Europe, you can make your way from London via trains or coaches.

Best time to arrive:

For the Mahasi Courses, please arrive on Saturdays as close as possible to 17.00hrs.
During Contemplative Living periods, any arranged day for the same time.
