You are invited to come mid-afternoon after 15.30. You may find this supportive of your practice since you have time to rest and settle in - and there is always a cup of tea!

RAIL TRAVEL Excellent site for travel or details: National Rail or Trainline
COACH TRAVEL There is also National Express that service Shrewsbury - cheaper, but unfortunately arrives too late (at the moment 2022) for a bus. Taxi costs £30. See below. From Shrewsbury onward is usually late morning so feasible.

TRAIN AND BUS TO SATIPANYA
Best to take a train to Shrewsbury.
Coaches also, but takes much longer from wherever you come.
For onward bus (no train) go down the road opposite the train station, a ten minute walk.
The bus station is ahead of you on the left.
This is the timetable of Minsterley Motors.
All weeklong course start 19.30 on Saturdays. Light evening supper at 18.00.
And finish on Sunday or Saturday morning after breakfast.

From Shrewsbury Bus Station to Bishops Castle:
Saturday only: 14.45 Bus is the best, arriving 15.24. There is a 17.40 arriving at 18.40 - last bus.
From Bishops Castle to Shrewsbury Bus Station:
No buses on Sunday. Normally lifts are available from other retreatants. If not, there is a taxi service, often shared, at £30.
Saturday: 07.30 arrives at 08.30. Best one: 09.30 arrives at 10.30.

At the bus station: bus 552/553 Stand N. For details Minsterley Motors Ltd., 01743 791208.
Alight at Apple Tree Junction - 16 miles approx. from Shrewsbury. If the driver does not know it (most know 'Satipanya' or 'Buddhist Retreat Centre') It is the next turn off after White Grit turn off, signposted 'Hyssington/Old Church Stoke'
Walk up the lane and round the bend. Satipanya is the first property on the left, about a 7 minute walk. If you know you will arrive in the dark, bring a torch with you. It is difficult to see pedestrians on a narrow lane in the dark!
If you miss the bus, please phone Dean Davies 07875 016261 about £25, then Go Carz 01743 44 11 44, about £30. Others may cost more. Do not use the Black Cabs at the station - £40 plus!

From Shrewsbury A5 roundabout take the A488 Bishops Castle road via Pontesbury and Minsterley and continue on this road up the Hope Valley for about 16 miles towards White Grit.
DO NOT take the turning right signposted White Grit, but proceed for approximately one mile and then turn right at the Apple Tree Junction onto Fishpool Lane, signposted 'Hyssington and Old Churchstoke'. Sixteen miles approx. in all from the Shrewsbury turn off.
Satipanya is the first property on the left hand side of the lane about one quarter of a mile on.
From South Wales, join the A488 and drive through Bishop's Castle.
Don't take the first sign to 'Hyssington and Churchstoke'!
But about five miles up from Bishops Castle, turn left at 'Apple Tree Junction', signposted'Hyssington and Old Churchstoke', into Fishpool Lane.
Satipanya is the first property on the left hand side of the lane about one quarter of a mile on.
Coming from abroad:
The closest airport is Birmingham International Airport, from where you can get a train to Shrewsbury(see above). Similarly from Manchester Airport to Manchester Picadilly Station and then onto Shrewsbury.
Seafarers from Ireland can take the ferry to Holyhead. There is a direct train from Holyhead to Shrewsbury.
If you come by Eurostar/boat from the continent, you can make your way from London via trains or coaches.
